AAbu Dhabi, Apr 29 : Dayananda Bangera hailing from Katapady, Udupi, a former Ranji Trophy player who represented Goa state and later represented UAE national team in international matches, has bagged yet another coaching certification, this time from Asian Cricket Council (ACC).
Bangera, who was a specialised wicketkeeper during his cricketing career was granted Level II Coaching Certificate during the intensive training sessions in Lahore, Pakistan recently. He was representing Zayed Cricket Academy in Abu Dhabi, through Emirates Cricket Board.
It may be recalled that Bangera was granted Level II certification by Cricket Australia last year through ICC Global Cricket Academy Dubai.
"I am extremely happy to receive this certification, so I can help young cricketing talents in the UAE. The ACC Level II certification is much more modernised for which, along with playing experience, every coach has to go through intensive coaching formalities," said Bangera speaking to daijiworld.
Though Bangera resides in Abu Dhabi, his dream and vision is to bring up cricketing talents from his hometown.
"As a patron of Udupi District Cricket Association, at present I am giving my expert advise to team UDCA to establish a concrete organisation for the future of our budding cricketers of Udupi region," says Bangera.
51-year-old Bangera has played 20 first class matches with 121 runs as his highest score, with 24 catches and 7 stumpings in his kitty during his 10-year cricket career from 1986 to 1996.
Bangera's 14-year-old son Akshay Bangera is representing Under-14 teams in Udupi. He also represented U-14 Zayed Academy team in United Kingdom last year, emerging as the highest scorer of the tournament.
