Mangalore, Jun 23: The inauguration of the ambitious ONGC Petrochemicals Complex at Permude was not materialized following cancellation of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's visit owing to bad weather.
However, the postponement of the inauguration which was decided as per the instructions given by the Prime Minister had fumed the BJP representatives who were present at the spot led by MP D V Sadanand Gowda and MLA Nagraj Shetty.
As reported earlier the BJP leaders staged a dharna accusing ONGC-MRPL officials of ignoring them. MP Sadanand Gowda who was apparently fumed because R S Sharma, the CMD of ONGC and chairman of ONGC, did not consult with him before making the announcement with regard to the deferring of inauguration. He was supported by more than 40 local BJP leaders who were present on the occasion. He even said that he would take up the matter in the parliament.
However, the dharna was later called off after R S Sharma apologized.
