Jammu records season's hottest day

Jammu, May 2 (IANS): It was the hottest day of the season in Jammu Thursday with the city recording a high of 40.3 degrees Celsius, an official said Friday.

"Jammu recorded the highest temperature of the season yesterday (Thursday) at 40.3 degrees Celsius, two degrees above normal," an official of the weather department told IANS.

The official said partly cloudy sky was expected Friday and Saturday, hoping to bring some respite from the scorching heat in the region.

Most parents chose to keep children at home as markets and roads witnessed subdued activity in the otherwise busy Jammu city.
