Public land sold in violation of rules: councillor

Ghaziabad, May 2 (IANS): Public land spread over a dozen villages worth Rs.1,532 crore was sold to private builders in Ghaziabad, Municipal Corporation vice president and councillor Rajendra Tyagi said Friday.

"The public land cannot be sold to private builders for their business. The resumption of such land can only be made to develop public utility services, hospitals and schools. But in Ghaziabad, the land was resumed and its ownership was given to private builders. It is in violation of urban planning rules," Tyagi said in a press conference here.

He has sent a complaint about such violations to the governor of Uttar Pradesh.
