Udupi, Jun 24: A two-day workshop on Cultural Tourism sponsored by UGC was inaugurated at the Silver Jubilee Hall of Milagres College at Kallianpur near here on Friday June 23. The workshop was inaugurated by Fr Marcel Saldanha, correspondent of college.
College principal Fr Fred Mascarenhas presided over the inaugural function. Dr A Sundara, former professor of Karnataka University and former director of Archeological Survey of India delivered the keynote address. He highlighted the potential for tourism industry in costal Karnataka. He called upon the educational institutions to start a course in tourism in every College.
Prof Hilda Rodrigues welcomed the gathering. The convener of the programme Prof G S Ramachandra gave the introduction to the seminar. Florine D'Silva proposed the vote of thanks. Prof. Jayaram Shettigar compered the programme.
Dr P Ganapayya Bhat, Prof Melwin Rego, Rajshekar Hebbar, and Dr T N Ramakrishna are the main resourced persons for the two-day workshop.
