Five injured in TN bomb blast: 4 injured flee hospital

Chidambaram (TN), May 3 (PTI): Five persons were injured when a country-made bomb exploded in a residential area here today, trigerring tension even as the case took a curious turn when four of them fled from the hospital, giving the slip to police.

The explosion comes close on the heels of Thursday's twin blasts on the Kaziranga Express train in Chennai that claimed a woman's life and left 14 injured.

The crude bomb went off in a house in a residential colony in this temple town, causing damage to the room atop the building in which five persons were injured including an employee of a well-known University.

Police rushed to the spot and admitted three of the injured into a government hospital and the remaining two in a private hospital.

The trio undergoing treament at the government hospital tricked the police and escaped under the guise of answering nature's call and one of their associates did likewise from the private hospital, police said.

The police have launched a hunt for the injured and are keeping a watch on the lone person who remained in hospital and is suspected to have brought the bomb to the room where it exploded.

The injured Mohan Ram is an history-sheeter hailing from Dindigul, police said. The employee of the university, identified as Arul, who is stated to have suffered damage to his eyesight, is among those who escaped.

According to Cuddalore Collector Kirlosh Kumar, who visited the spot, a country-made pistol and material suspected to be used in making explosives were recovered from the house where Arul was staying.

Police said they have launched a probe into the matter from various angles in the wake of the four making good their escape.

On Thursday, when twin blasts had rocked the train in Chennai, an alleged Indian Mujahideen operative from Rajasthan was arrested by  police of that state at Parangipettai in this district.

    Hi Rohan Pinto, Mangalore

I brought Christianity because I myself is Christian. However my forefathers are Hindus & we are from Goa. I can also talk about Muslims because my brother in law is Muslim (love cum arranged marriage, before Prathima now Fathimah). I think now you feel, I am the best person to teach & a real secular. I am sure I am not "sickular" even though I am minority by religion.

Being Pinto as your surname, you must be my relative, may be even blood relative (Goan Hindu ancestors)

By the way, we are all following our parent's religion. If you can follow parent's they why can not forefather's?(who are Hindus)

    Hi Social Worker Perinje,

There is no need to bring religion in this issue. As long as someone work against India on behest of foreign elements, are to be considered as DESHADROHIS.

By the way, do not go by name. Pranesh Pillai in Ishrath Jahan case is not Hindu. In Andhra & tamilnadu, generally christians names are like Hindus like YS Rajashekhar Reddy, Jagan Mohan Reddy, YS Vijayamma etc. etc. etc.

I am not sure what these Mohan Ram & Arul. If they are hindus, I urge all Hindus to condemn them first before others condemn them & socially punish them till they become good citizens.
