Modi undecided on apologising to EC

New Delhi, May 3 (IANS): BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi Saturday skirted questions on whether he would tender an apology to the Election Commission over violation of the model code of conduct.

Asked if he would like to apologise to the poll panel, Modi told TV channel Aaj Tak: "That stage has not come yet. Our legal team is pursuing the matter."

The Bharatiya Janata Party leader further said he was accustomed to battling legal hassles for over 12 years now.

"I will not like to waste my time in a debate on this," he said.

He denied any knowledge of a police report in the matter.

"The inquiry is on. I don't think they will tell the media about their report... nor do I have any right to know about it," Modi said.

The Gujarat chief minister displayed his party's symbol - lotus- and delivered a speech outside a polling booth after casting his vote in Gandhinagar April 30.

An FIR was lodged against him the same day under the directive of the Election Commission.
