Mangalore, Jun 25: Meteorological Department has forecast heavy rainfall along the Coastal Karnataka region. Officials of Natural Disaster (Prevention) Cell have been put on high alert, said a release from Natural Disaster Prevention Cell.

Dakshina Kannada district has a received a total rainfall of 940.60 mm in the month of June. On Friday, the district has received a total rainfall of 328.24 mm. Last year rainfall on the same day was 782.78 mm.

On Friday, Mangalore received 237.30 mm, Bantwal (345.40 mm), Belthangady (355.20 mm), Puttur (231.90 mm) and Sullia (471.40 mm).

Last year on the same day, Mangalore had received 916 mm of rains while Bantwal received 345.40 mm, Belthangady - 452.60 mm, Puttur - 461 mm and Sullia - 787.60 mm, states a press release.
