Mangalore, Jun 25: The Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy organized the 'Konknni Mhan Mhonis - iek mulakhot' and 'Kovita Sobhann' on Sunday evening in the Bishop Victor Memorial Hall of St Anthony's Poor Homes in Jeppu in the city.

Konkani stalwarts Gulvadi Dattatreya Bhat and Msgr Alexander F D'Souza were honoured as 'mhan mhonis' (men of honour). Former state minister Blasius M D'Souza was the chief guest. Academy president Eric Ozario presided over the function. St Anthony's director Fr Clifford D'Souza was the guest of honour.

An interaction was held with the two stalwarts.

Academy standing committee member Gabriel Vaz, Bangalore welcomed the gathering. Gulvadi Dattatreya Bhat was introduced by David D'Souza vamanjoor and Msgr D'souza by Gladys Rego.

Academy member Vitori Karkal (Victor Mathias) compered the programme and Academy registrar Dr Duggappa Kajekar proposed a vote of thanks.

Kovita Sobhann

A session of poetry was anchored by Victor Lobo, Bajal. Ten poets including Victor himself took part. Gladys Rego won the cash award of Rs 500 sponsored by Eric Ozario.
