10 die in Uttarakhand bus accident


Dehradun, May 7 (IANS): Ten people were killed Wednesday when a bus on its way from New Delhi to Uttarakhand toppled in Devprayag district, police said.

Twenty-five passengers were injured in the accident on the Rishikesh-Badrinath route. A dozen of the injured were said to be in critical condition. 

The bus was headed for Shrinagar in Uttarakhand.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat announced that the families of the dead would be given Rs.2 lakh as compensation. The reason for the accident was not immediately clear.
