Mangalore, Jun 27: "Those who get addicted to drugs not only spoil their physical health but also lose mental health and peace. It is very easy to get into the sweet trap of drugs but very difficult to come out of it. If one gets into this addiction at a young age, he/she may face several problems of abdomen too in the later years," warned Dr Mohan Pai, a noted cardiologist of the city.
He was speaking at a programme organized at Canara High School here to observe international day against drug abused and illicit drug trafficking. Headmistress K C Damayanti was present on the occasion.
School teacher Anuradha welcomed the gathering and Rajaram Nayak, secretary of parent-teacher association proposed vote of thanks.
Elsewhere in the city special jaatha was organized to mark the day. Studenst Islamic Organization of India gathered in the city with banners and placards in their hands. They demanded concerned persons to drive out drugs from the college campuses.
