Kasargod: Ukkas Basheer in police custody

Kasargod, May 10: Notorious  thief, Basheer alias Ukkas Basheer (48), a resident of Berka near Cherkala in the district, who had been arrested and sent to judicial custody a couple of days back, was remanded to police custody by the court here on Thursday May 8. It upheld the argument of the police that his custody  is required for them for interrogation and extracting more deteails of various thefts with which he was involved. He will be in police custody for two days.

Moidu  alias Jamyam Moidu from Arladka Chandrampare, an alleged associate of Ukkas Basheer, is presently lodged in Kannur  jail  under judicial custody relating to different cases he has been facing. The policemen of Kumble station have approached the court for Moidu's custody. As Basheer and Moidu jointly conducted several thefts, the policemen want to question them together and take them along to various spots in relation to  the investigation of thefts.

The policemen also want to prepare an inventory of stolen items,which are reportedly stored in the house of Moidu, in the presence of both the accused. As already reported, a close watch  on Moidu's house has  been kept to ensure that the stolen things are not transported outside.
