Puttur: Khateeb of mosque dies of electric shock

Puttur, May 10: Ashraf (30), who was functioning as the  Khateeb of Mottettadka mosque near here died after suffering electric shocks on  Thursday May 8. Ashraf, who was working as Khateeb at this mosque for the last nine years, was a native of Kalai in Asaigoly near Konaje.

It is learnt that Ashraf was standing near Mottettadka mosque by the roadside, when accidentally he came into contact with the stray wire of an electric pole located nearby. It is said  that electricity had begun passing  through the stray wire at the time, after two electric cables came into contact with each other. Khateeb, who collapsed to the ground, was not noticed for a considerable  period of time by anyone.

An auto driver, who was passing by the above spot in the afternoon,identified the Khateeb and took him to the hospital. Ashraf died sometime later at the hospital.

It is gathered that Ashraf was married five months back, and his wife is in the family way.
