Seized items stolen from Delhi sales tax office


New Delhi, May 11 (IANS): Seized items worth lakhs of rupees were stolen from the Sales Tax Office here, police said Sunday.

Police said officials of the Sales Tax Department at I.P. Estate in central Delhi came to know about the theft Saturday morning.

A Sales Tax official told police that he entered the office at around 10:30 a.m. and found the lock of a room, in which valuable items seized by the department were kept, broken.

He also found that some of the valuables were missing and immediately informed his seniors about the incident. 

Police said the stolen items were totally valued at several lakhs of rupees. 

A case of theft has been registered.
