Puttur, Jun 30: In a ghastly accident near town police station here a news agent and a restaurant owner died on the spot on Thursday June 29 night.
The deceased have been identified as Sitaram Rai (35) of Ganesh News Agency and Sathish Kamath (32), owner of Hotel Popular here.
Sitaram who hailed from Katuka near Perla had been residing a rented house at Sametadka here for some time now. He had earlier owned a newspaper agency. It was only a year ago that he had started his own Ganesh News Agency near CPC here. Sathish owned Hotel Popular in the heart of the city.
On Thursday night both of them were going to meet Sathish's brother who is owning a canteen at Mahaveer Hospital here. It was their daily routine to meet Sathish's brother before reaching home.
While Sitaram was riding the mobike, Sathish was riding pillion. As they reached a curve near the town police station, a KSRTC bus coming to the city from Mangalore collided with their mobike. As a result both of them fell on the road and sustained serious injuries. The injuries were so fatal that both of them died on the spot.
While Sitaram had married only 10 days ago, Sathish's marriage was due to take place withing few days.
The Puttur town police have registered a case in this regard.
