Berlin, May 17 (IANS): Brazilian defender Naldo and German Bundesliga club Wolfsburg agreed on a contract extension until June 2016.
"Naldo is an absolute top performer and leader who has shown this season how important he is for our team. This is another important personnel decision after the extension with Ivica Olic," Wolfsburg sporting director Klaus Allofs said in an official statement Friday, reports Xinhua.
The 31-year-old defender became a key player in Wolfsburg's defence, helping them qualify for UEFA Europa League next season.
Ronaldo Aparecido Rodrigues, who is commonly known as Naldo, joined Wolfsburg in 2012 after seven years at Werder Bremen.
The defender scored eight goals in 55 appearances for Wolfsburg. He has played 247 Bundesliga games, scoring 31 goals.
"I want to continue playing successful football with Wolfsburg. My family and I feel comfortable here. That's why I am very pleased with the contract extension," Naldo said.
Wolfsburg completed the season in fifth place.
