Nitish Kumar quits over JD-U's debacle

Patna, May 17 (IANS): Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said Saturday he had resigned taking moral responsibility for the rout of his Janata Dal-United (JD-U) in the Lok Sabha election.

"I led the party's campaign. I take responsibility for the election result," a visibly despondent Nitish Kumar told the media, saying he had submitted his resignation to the governor.

The JD-U won only two of 40 Lok Sabha seats in Bihar.
