Delhi HC refuses to entertain plea on nursery admission

New Delhi, May 19 (IANS): The Delhi High Court Monday refused to entertain a plea of five parents from the inter-state transfer (IST) category seeking admission of their children to nursery classes here.

Moving the high court, the parents sought parity with the 24 students belonging IST category who were given relief by the Supreme Court on May 7.

The apex court, giving the nod for nursery admission process here, had quashed Feb 27 notification of the Delhi government scrapping the IST category for nursery admission.

Justice Manmohan told the parents to approach the Supreme Court with their demands as it has already decided a similar plea of 24 parents.

The Supreme Court upheld the government's earlier notification issued on Dec 18 last year by which it allotted five points to the IST category.

It had also asked the Delhi government to raise the number of seats, if required, to accommodate the 24 students who approached it.
