Mangalore, May 22: In commemoration of the centenary year of the St Paul Church Balkunje, a training camp in drama for the children of Balkunje Parish was held on Wednesday May 21 at the parish hall of the church. The camp was conducted by the Konkani Natak Sabha®, Mangalore.
Renowned drama writers and directors Dolphy Lobo Cascia, John M Permannur and Adolphus Cutinha (Dolla) were the resource persons. Training was given to the children regarding the drama script, direction and performance. 50 children of the parish actively participated in the camp.
The camp commenced with an inaugural function which was presided over by the parish priest Fr Michael D’Silva. The function began with a prayer song by led by Anitha D’Souza and group. The camp was inaugurated by lighting the lamp by the parish priest and the dignitaries on the dais.
Sunil Menezes, the general secretary of the Konkani Natak Sabha (KNS), Prem Lobo treasurer of KNS, Gretta Rebello ex-vice president of KNS and centenary committee convener of Balkunje Parish, Nelson Lobo, John M Permannur and Dolphy Cascia were the dignitaries on the dais.
The Konkani Natak Sabha issued a certificate of participation to all the participants and also distributed books and CD's on drama.
Nelson Lobo welcomed the gathering. Anitha D’Souza, secretary of the centenary committee of Balkunje Parish compeered and proposed vote of thanks, while Prem Lobo introduced the resource persons.
The participants presented their talents after the camp.
