World No.1 Lee Chong Wei does a bhangra with Indian shuttlers

New Delhi, May 23 (IANS): India's women shuttlers celebrated their historic Uber Cup bronze medal winning performance by dancing on bhangra beats and also made sure that World No.1 Lee Chong Wei joined the act.

The celebrations started when India captain Saina Nehwal, P.V. Sindhu and the doubles pair of Jwala Gutta and Ashwini Ponnappa gave the hosts a 3-0 quarter-final win over Indonesia Thursday night, assuring themselves of at least a maiden bronze by making the semis.

The entire team along with coaches and support staff got together and was seen dancing to drums and bhangra beats on the practice courts at the Siri Fort Sports Complex.

Saina, Sindhu, Pradnya Gadre, P.C. Thulasi, Saili Rane, Aparna Balan among others were seen dancing with coaches Pullela Gopichand, Madhumita Bisht and U. Vimal Kumar.

Chong Wei, two-time Olympic silver medallist, was seen shooting the Indian shuttlers shake a leg with his mobile camera. Seeing Chong Wei, members of the support staff rushed towards him and made him join the celebrations.

The Malaysian did not disappoint and made a few moves, much to the delight of the Indian shuttlers.

India will now take on Japan in the semi-final Friday evening.
