Bahrain, Jul 6: An Indian labourer in Bahrain, suffering from partial paralysis, has appealed for financial help so he can procure an air ticket to India and undergo further free treatment.

According to a report in the Gulf Daily News, 49-year-old Patchily Kurushmuthu has been diagnosed with a degenerating disease of the nervous system by doctors at the Shifa Al Jazeera medical centre in Manama.

He has been advised further treatment.

Kurushmuthu worked as a labourer in a cleaning company in Salmabad in Bahrain's Central Governorate and earned 75 Bahraini dinars a month.

He had been working for the last three years and is the only breadwinner of the family in India comprising his wife and two daughters.

He had come to Bahrain to earn money for the treatment of his wife's eye ailment.

According to the newspaper report, a local organization of Indians, the Janapriya Social Association, is spearheading the aid campaign for the labourer.

Around 2,000 dinars is needed to cover the airfare and treatment in India, says the association.
