Lithuania presidential poll runoff kicks off


Vilnius, May 25 (IANS): The Presidential poll runoff kicked off in Lithuania Sunday.

The country's incumbent President Dalia Grybauskaite and her rival Zigmantas Balcytis were competing for presidency in the runoff Sunday.

In the first round May 11, Grybauskaite received 45.9 percent of vote, slightly falling short of the 50-percent threshold needed to win a second term. 

Her challenger, Social Democrat Zigmantas Balcytis gathered 13.6 percent of vote.
