Berlin, May 26 (IANS): Hertha Berlin completed their fourth transfer for the upcoming season as Genki Haraguchi joined from Urawa Red Diamonds, the Bundesliga football club confirmed.
Berlin's 23-year-old new arrival moved from J-League front-runners Urawa Red Diamonds by putting pen to paper on a deal until June 2018. In Berlin, Haraguchi will meet his former teammate Hajime Hosogai, who joined the club in 2013, reports Xinhua.
"Genki Haraguchi is a versatile striker who can play on the left and right wing as well as in the center or as a second striker. With his commitment we widen our options in the offence," Berlin manager Michael Preetz said.
Berlin's new arrival scored 33 goals in 162 appearances in the J-League overall. Besides that he played three games for Japan's international soccer team. However, he is not part of the squad for the World Cup in Brazil.
Haraguchi is the fourth summer new arrival for the "Old Lady" after the signing of Leverkusen's Jens Hegeler, Basel's Valentin Stocker and Nuremberg's Marvin Plattenhadt
Hertha Berlin finished the season at 11th place in the Bundesliga standings.
