Attackers detained after online outrage in China

Beijing, May 26 (IANS): Police Monday detained three men in China's capital Beijing, suspected of assaulting a teenager that led to outrage on the internet, media reported.

The video was first posted on social media Saturday, showing a teenager being beaten by three young men who are bare-chested, Xinhua reported.

The angry outpourings on Sina Weibo website led to many demanding that the police detain the assailants.

Beijing police found the boy, and the person who made the video Sunday, in Chaoyang District, but the three men were gone.

One of them, Guo, 15, gave himself up to police early Monday. Police then tracked down the other two.

The trio confessed to beating the boy Friday.
