Porto Alegre (Brazil), May 26 (IANS): Defending champions Cruzeiro moved to the top of Brazil's Serie A football championship after recovering from a goal down to win 3-1 against Internacional.
Wellington opened the scoring for the hosts at the Centenario stadium before Ricardo Goulart equalized on the stroke of half-time, Sunday, reports Xinhua.
Bolivia international striker Marcelo Moreno then gave his side the lead and former Corinthians winger William made it 3-1 two minutes from time.
Moreno, who is on loan from Cruzeiro's Serie A rivals Gremio, is now the league's top scorer with five goals from as many matches.
"I am trying to gel as best I can with the team. They really deserved this result," the former Wigan Athletic player said.
"We have been in great form and I am happy to have been able to help the team."
In other matches Sunday, Atletico Paranaense defeated Coritiba 2-0, Figueirense lost 1-0 at home to Goias, Flamengo held Santos to a 0-0 draw, Corinthians won 4-1 at Sport, Atletico Mineiro drew 0-0 at home to Criciuma, Vitoria held Botafogo 1-1 and Chapecoense beat Palmeiras 2-0.
