Mehsud group parts ways with Pakistan Taliban

Islamabad, May 28 (IANS): Mehsud faction of the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan Wednesday announced its dissociation from the outlawed militant group, media reported.

Member of Taliban Shura and spokesman of the Mehsud group, Azam Tariq said that the TTP's promotion of sectarian mindset and individual ideologies has created rift among the Taliban and they were deviating from the real cause, Dawn online reported.

TTP was carrying out bomb attacks in public places and also extracted money from madrassas and other institutions which was not acceptable, Azam said.

The Mehsud group had tried to reform the TTP, but failed.

Officials said that the Mehsud faction was the largest group in TTP and their separation has almost paralysed the militant movement.
