Facebook page soon for complaints on women's issues: Maneka

New Delhi, May 28 (IANS): The government will use the social media for redressal of complaints related to issues concerning women and children and a Facebook page will be set up, Women and Child Development Minister Maneka Gandhi said Wednesday.

"The ministry will set up an interactive complaints redressal page on Facebook for issues concerning women and children such as adoption, sexual offences and other atrocities," Maneka Gandhi said after taking office here.

Through this Facebook page, the ministry will be interacting directly with those who have sent the complaints or raised any issues that need attention.

The minister said an interactive email-based helpline would also be set up for women.

Gandhi, who is a well known animal rights activist and environmentalist, met senior officials of the women and child development ministry.

She is a seven-time member of parliament. She was also in the council of ministers during the previous NDA government oled by Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
