Afghan woman resists abduction bid, robbed in Delhi

New Delhi, May 28 (IANS): An Afghan woman fought off an abduction bid by an unidentified man but lost her bag containing some cash which fell into his car, police said Wednesday.

The woman, in her 20s, was going along with her husband towards Lajpat Nagar market in south Delhi to buy some medicine around 11.30 p.m. Tuesday.

The accused stopped his car near the Ashram area flyover from where the Afghan couple were crossing the road.

"The accused used lewd language against the woman and asked her to sit in his car. When the couple ignored him, he tried to abduct the woman," a police official said.

During the scuffle, the woman's bag, containing some dollars and thousands of rupees, fell inside the car, and the man sped away with it.

A case has been registered and a probe is on.
