Dhaka, May 28 (IANS): Bangladesh's Health Minister Mohammed Nasim Wednesday congratulated his new Indian counterpart Harsh Vardhan and called for "intensifying partnership" as both countries face "shared challenges" in the health sector.
In a message, Nasim said he looked forward to working with Indian Health Minister Harsh Vardhan "to further strengthen our bonds of friendship", bdnews24.com reported.
Nasim also extended an invitation to Harsh Vardhan to visit Bangladesh at a convenient time.
Nasim hoped that Bangladesh and India would be able "to contribute significantly in bringing positive change in healthcare in the two countries and in the region as well" by working together.
India and Bangladesh took initiatives in September 2011 during then prime minister Manmohan Singh’s visit to Dhaka to cooperate in the health sector.
The first memorandum of understanding on cooperation in the health sector was signed between the two countries in February last year, the report said.
