Mangalore, Jul 9: A total number of 22 micro filaria cases have been identified in Dakshina Kannada district since the year 2005, said DK zilla Panchayat CEO AM Kunjappa.

Speaking at the national filaria control committee meeting here last week, he said 11,802 blood samples have been collected under the filaria control programme since 2005.

However, no filaria cases have been found out of 430 blood samples collected between January and May this year, he said.

Providing the details of the work undertaken, he said 4,725 health activists visited 2,918 houses in Puttur, Bantwal and Mangalore taluks and administered DEC tablets to 14,05,014 people and informed them about the precautionary measures to be taken to control the spread of the disease, he said.
