Showers may greet you in Himachal


Shimla, May 29 (IANS): If you are heading to the hills of Himachal Pradesh this weekend, mild showers may greet you, the Met office forecast Thursday.

"Rain and thundershowers are likely to occur over mid and low hills of the state during the next three days," an official of the India Meteorological Department here told IANS.

He said most of the prominent tourist destinations like Shimla, Dharamsala, Palampur, Manali, Kasauli, Kufri, Narkanda and Dalhousie are likely to witness intermittent rainfall till June 1, which will bring down temperatures to comfortable levels.

Meanwhile, the maximum and minimum temperatures across the state increased by one to two degrees Celsius Wednesday.

Kalpa, a picturesque town 250 km from here, recorded a maximum temperature of 21 degrees Celsius.

Sundernagar in Mandi district recorded a high of 37 degrees Celsius, while it was 29.8 degrees Celsius at Dharamsala in Kangra district.

State capital Shimla saw a maximum temperature of 28.3 degrees Celsius, while picturesque tourist resort Manali recorded a maximum temperature of 25 degrees Celsius.
