CCTV cameras for children's shelter homes


New Delhi, May 29 (IANS): The government has decided to install CCTV cameras in all shelter homes for children in the country following reports of sexual abuse of minors at such a place in Maharashtra.

Taking note of the incident where children were reportedly sexually abused in a children's shelter home in Raigad district of Maharashtra, the ministry of women and child development has decided to install CCTV cameras in all shelter homes, an official release said here Thursday.

The ministry will work in consultation with state governments for achieving this, the release said.

Two officials of a children's shelter home in Karjat taluka of Raigad district have been arrested on charges of sexually abusing five minors.
