Lightning kills 5 in Bangladesh


Dhaka, May 30 (IANS): At least five people died and 40 others were injured Friday in a lightning strike in Bangladesh, police said.

The lightning struck at a local market in Naogaon's Mahadebpur upazila at 7.30a.m., bdnews24.com reported.

Police said the death toll may rise, as several of the injured are in a critical condition.

Enaetuddin said people braved drizzle and started thronging the market, where paddy is mainly traded, from around 6 a.m.
