Chennai, June 2 (IANS): Car maker Ford India Monday said it sold 12,288 units last month, up from 5,993 sold in May 2013.
In a statement, the company said domestic sales stood at 6,053 units last month, up from 4,002 units sold in the corresponding period of the previous year.
The company exported 6,235 vehicles, against 1,991 units in the corresponding period last year.
"A stable government is a positive development for overall economic and business sentiment in the country. We are hopeful that the new government will support ongoing industry-friendly initiatives like the excise duty reduction and look at further positive measures to improve consumer sentiment," Vinay Piparsania, executive director, marketing, sales and service, was quoted as saying in the statement.
In May, Ford India reopened bookings for all variants of the Ford EcoSport compact urban sports utility vehicle.
