Mangalore, Jul 12: An incident of kidnap, illegal confinement and sexual abuse has been brought to light by the anti-rowdy squad of Dakshina Kannada police.

The police team which raided a lodge in the city rescued three persons belonging to Hakki-Pikki tribe who were kept under wrongful confinement.

Umesh, Prabhu, Shakha and Prasanna were the rescued persons.

The police have arrested two persons on charges of kidnapping the trio.

The group of four persons had received Rs 50,000 from Yogish Mallya who purchased Gajamukha Maale (Gem) from them. But Mallya who did not receive the goods neither was also not disbursed the amount paid.

Enraged by this Mallya and his associates had them confined in a hotel here in the city. He, however, sent Prasad back home to fetch the money while the three others were kept in confinement. It is also alleged that the women with them was sexually abused.

The incident came to light when Prasanna reported the incident to his relatives who in turn complained to the police.

The accused Yogish Mallya and Prashanth Kumar have been arrested.
