Two Pakistani troops killed on Afghan border


Islamabad, June 4 (IANS): At least two Pakistani soldiers were killed and three others injured Wednesday when unidentified militants attacked the military post on Pakistan-Afghanistan border in Bajaur tribal region, offials said.

Inter Service Public Relations (ISPR) confirmed that the attack took place on Mano Zangal and Makaha check-posts, Dawn online reported.

Official sources said this was the third time militants from Afghanistan intruded the Pakistani territory since May 25 to amke a strike.

The intelligence sources suspect that the Mullah Fazlullah-led militants based in Afghanistan's Kunar and Nuristan may be involved in the cross-border attacks along with some foreign elements.

Bajaur tribal region sits directly across Afghanistan’s Kunar province where a large number of suspected militants who had fled operations in Swat and Bajaur have been living for the last few years, the report said.
