Kundapur, Jul 12: The Byndoor police have arrested one person for illegal slaughter of cattle at Badakere village near Byndoor here on Monday July 11 night.  However, four other persons who were said to have involved in the illegal slaughter managed to flee the place.

The arrested has been identified as B H Hameed of Badakere.  Police had raided a particular Muslim house at Saibarhaklu near Badakere after one Praveen Shetty of the same locality had tipped them off about the cattle slaughter.

It is said that the accused were fetching cattle from neighbouring villages and used to slaughter them in this particular house.  Accordingly when police raided on Monday night, they found 25 kilograms of beef filled in a sack and kept ready for selling.  The police also seized a scale, three knives and a calf from the house.

While the prime accused Abbas, Razak, Salam and Khadar managed to flee the place.  However, the police arrested house owner B H Hameed.

The Byndoor police have registered a case in this regard.
