Five involved in snatching incidents in Gurgaon held


Gurgaon, June 5 (IANS): Five people, involved in nearly two dozen cases of loot and snatching, were arrested here, police said Thursday.

Ashid and Rashid, both 21 from Alwar (Rajasthan) were arrested from Bilaspur here on Delhi-Jaipur national highway.

"They were arrested by a Crime Branch team headed by Anand Kumar. 17 mobile phones and a stolen bike were recovered from them," Joint Commissioner of Police Vivek Sharma told reporters.

Also Mohammad Rais, 22, from Punahana, Mewat was arrested from near village Ghata here. He had managed to escape from Rajasthan Police's custody May 2 near Nuh in Mewat.

A home-made pistol and stolen bike was recovered from him. Rais has been involved in nearly one dozen cases of loot.

Police also arrested Vinod and Raju, both in their early 20s and from Alwar, and recovered two gold chains from them. The two were involved in over a dozen cases of loot and snatching. 

"We are grilling all of them on police remand," Sharma said.
