Mangalore, Jul 13: "Physiotherapy has good scope in the country.  But it needs to be encouraged.  Even students should come forward to take up physiotherapy as profession," advised Dr Andrew Leipus, former physiotherapist of Indian Cricket team and presently a consultant physiotherapist with BCCI.

He was speaking after inaugurating a workshop on "Taping Techniques in Sports Injuries" at Dr M V Shetty College of Physiotherapy here on Wednesday July 12.

He further said that physiotherapy is still in its infantile stages in India and has not received wide recognition as it should have been.  There is no separate board even for physiotherapy.

Trustee Dr Ranjit Shetty, PG director Sanjay Samuel, Rajiv Gandhi Health University senate member Dr Nidarsh Hegde, sports coordinator Dr Mahesh Shetty were also present on the occasion.

College principal Dr Rajesh Kumar welcomed the gathering, course coordinator Dr U T Iftikar Ali delivered the introductory note.
