Panaji, Jul 14: The soccer-crazy Goa spent Rs 3.77 crores on organizing six hockey exhibition matches in May, 2006 itself.

The answer tabled by sports minister Pandurang Madkaikar revealed that all the six matches were held in May 2006.

In a written reply on the floor of the house, Madkaikar stated that the directorate of sports and youth affairs conducted the exhibition matches. Two matches each were held at Calangute in north goa, Panaji and Navelim in south goa, he informed.

Teams including Indian Airlines, Indian Oil, St Sanislaus Mumbai and DSYA summer camp U-14 boys played the matches, sports minister informed.
