Montevideo, June 9 (IANS): Danubio were crowned Uruguay's First Division league champions after defeating Wanderers on penalties.
In a hard-fought and exciting game Sunday, Danubio, coached by Leonardo Ramos, scored a goal a late on taking the match into penalties, reports Xinhua.
Wanderers, led by Alfredo Arias, were just two minutes away from becoming champions.
Ramos said he was happy to become a champion adding that "this is the most beautiful thing that has ever happened to me (as a coach)."
"I called the youngest players in the club, who are very good players," said Ramos.
"That is why I always say I have the best team of the Uruguayan league," said Ramos.
This is Danubio's fourth championship after 1988, 2004, 2006-2007.
