Montevideo (Uruguay), June 10 (IANS): Uruguay have left for Brazil to compete in the 2014 Brazil World Cup.
Uruguay, bracketed with Italy, England and Costa Rica in Group D, Monday took a chartered flight from the Carrasco International Airport that serves the capital Montevideo, to the Brazilian city of Belo Horizonte, capital of Minas Gerais state.
The team will stay in the JN resort hotel and trains at the nearby city of Sete Lagoas, reports Xinhua.
Players got a day off Sunday, but had their final training session, behind closed doors, early Monday at their training camp on the outskirts of Montevideo.
Uruguayan forward Luis Suarez returned to practice Saturday, following knee surgery May 22, but it has yet to be decided whether he will play in the team's inaugural match June 14 against Costa Rica in Fortaleza.
The regional champions, who finished fourth in South Africa in 2010, will be playing in their 12th World Cup.
