Mangalore, Jul 17:
The 32nd Mens and 24th Women’s State Senior Power lifting Championship 2006 ended on Sunday, Jul 16 with Balanjaneya Gymnasium team lifting the men’s championship.

The championship organized at the Town Hall had its award ceremony on Sunday, wherein Davangere Municipal Sports Club was given the runners up trophy.

During the event several new records were created. D Keerthi of State Police team (60 kg category) lifted 73 kgs in bench-press creating a new record. N Pushpa of Multi-Gym in Sagar (82 kg category) lifted 161 kg and thereby breaking the earlier record of 160.5 kg.

In the Men’s category, Keeth Furtado (125 kg) of Mangalore wrote a new record in squat category.  In the women’s category, the State Police team won the championship while NET of Nitte bagged the runners up trophy.

Strong Man: Razvi Khan of Municipal Sports Club Davanagere was declared the ‘strong man’ of the championship

Strong Woman: U Sudha of State Police Team bagged the ‘strong woman’ title.
