Spain arrive in Salvador for Netherlands tie


Salvador (Brazil), June 12 (IANS/EFE): Defending champions Spain arrived here Thursday in readiness for their World Cup opener against 2010 runners-up the Netherlands, Friday.

The two teams’ clash is a rematch of the 2010 World Cup final in South Africa where Spain grabbed a 1-0 victory with a goal from Andres Iniesta four minutes from the end of extra time, reports EFE. 

The Spanish team arrived in Salvador from Curitiba where they had a brief training camp. The players rested after arriving in Salvador where they will train before holding a press conference with the presence of goalkeeper, Iker Casillas, midfielder, Xavi Hernandez, and coach, Vicente del Bosque. 

Spain are in Group B along with Chile, the Netherlands, and Australia.
