Dubai, Jun 12 (Emirates 247) : A passenger had to be restrained by cabin crew on an Emirates flight from Dubai to Karachi on Thursday over ‘unruly’ behaviour.
The incident happened on flight EK606, which was scheduled to depart for Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport at 9.50am from Dubai on June 12.
According to an eyewitness, a male passenger stood up from his seat while the plane was taxiing down the runway and refused to return to his seat as requested by the cabin crew.
After repeated attempts, the eyewitness said, the flight had to abort its take off, while five members of the cabin crew were forced to restrain the ‘agitated passenger’ before security was called in to take him off the plane.
When contacted, an Emirates spokesperson confirmed the incident, saying in an email statement: “Emirates can confirm that on 12 June 2014 an incident occurred on flight EK606 before it departed Dubai for Karachi whereby an unruly passenger was restrained by cabin crew.
“The passenger was handed over to authorities in Dubai. The safety of our passengers and crew is of critical importance and will not be compromised. As the matter is now under police investigation Emirates cannot comment further on the incident.”
The flight finally took off around 11.30am and landed in Karachi without further incident.
