Bangalore, Jul 18: Former deputy chief minister Siddharamaiah on Tuesday July 18, staged a walkout from the Assembly protesting against the Speaker's decision not to allow him to explain reasons before tendering resignation to his Assembly seat.
Extending their support to him, Congress members too walked out of the House.
It may be mentioned here that the Speaker Krishna refused permission to him to explain the reasons saying that there was no provision to do so.
The Speaker had to adjourn the House on Saturday and yesterday as Siddharamaiah and Congress members staged dharna demanding permission.
Siddharamaiah began dharna for the third day protesting against the Speaker's stance.
As the Speaker stuck to his stance and requested Siddharamaiah to co-operate to conduct proceedings, Siddharamaiah staged a walkout. Congress members followed him.
Meanwhile, Siddharamaiah is likely to resign on Tuesday, and leave for Delhi on Tuesday night to meet Congress supremo Sonia Gandhi on Wednesday July 19.
