Kuala Lumpur, June 15 (IANS): The Indian women's hockey team registered their fifth successive win over Malaysia by defeating them 2-0 here Sunday.
Filled with confidence and showing excellent skills, India's Ritushah Arya opened the account in the 12th minute to take the lead. Just before halftime, Vandana Kataria pierced in another goal to extend the lead.
However, both teams saw a dry run in the second half and failed to score.
"The team has escalated with today's win as we now look forward to a cleansweep. Today's score on the other hand could have been much better. The game became a little slow in the second half but the team is confident of putting up a better score in the next match," captain Ritu Rani said.
India will play their sixth and last match of the tour to Malaysia Tuesday. The series is part of the team's preparations for the Glasgow Commonwealth Games.
