Tokyo, June 16 (IANS): Tokyo shares opened lower Monday as market sentiment was hurt by increasingly exacerbated situation in Iraq.
At 9.15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average lost 56.53 points, or 0.37 percent, from Friday to 15,041.31, reported Xinhua.
The broader Topix index of all first section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was down 4.00 points, or 0.32 percent, to 1, 239.97.
