German press praises national team's win


Berlin, June 17 (IANS/EFE): German newspapers celebrated their national team’s 4-0 win over Portugal Monday in the FIFA World Cup.

Bild came up with the headline “It’s a wonderful day” saying that the World Cup will be Germany’s. It praised midfielder Thomas Müller, who scored the first hat-trick of the 2014 World Cup, ensuring his team’s win, reports EFE.

Süddeutsche Zeitung’s headline read “Three time, Müller” referring to his hat-trick which made Germany shine under coach Joachim Loew.

Der Spiegel said that “Müller wants more” and praised defender Jerome Boateng, who succeeded in curbing the dangers of Cristiano Ronaldo.
