All-India under-14 football tourney to be held in B'lore

Bangalore, June 19: With the FIFA under-17 World Cup taking place in India in 2017, young footballers in the country will get an opportunity to showcase their talent in the forthcoming All India Under-14 Football Tournament in Bangalore which will be held on July 26 and 27 at the lush green Bangalore Football Stadium.

The main objective of the tournament is to unearth football players for the planned tournament. It is also felt that the sporting idea will go a long way in promoting the game in India. A R Khaleel, president of the Karnataka State Football Association (KSFA) lauded the initiative and felt that many players from Karnataka can now try to get into the Indian team if they show their true football talent. 


The first of its kind tournament organised by Denz Foundation of Bangalore will have at least 64 teams from all over the country taking part in the 5-a-side competition. The total prize money of Rs 1 lac will be given to the semi-finalists and finalist teams apart from attractive trophies and medals. Individual players will also receive awards at the finals.

All matches will be played at the Bangalore Football Stadium and officiated by referees from KSFA.
